VSF Hands Over Reconstructed Schools and Educational Materials In Adamawa State

Victims Support Fund (VSF) on Tuesday 6th February 2018 as part of its rebuilding efforts handed over some blocks of five (5) reconstructed school buildings in Michika to the Adamawa State Government. This is part of the rebuilding Michika project which includes the on-going Michika Local Government Secretariat reconstruction.

In furtherance of the drive to enhance access to education for victims of insurgency in Yola, Adamawa and Lassa, Borno State, the Executive Director VSF Professor Sunday Ochoche  on Wednesday 7th February 2018 handed over educational materials to Education Must Continue Initiative (EMCI). The EMCI is an implementing partner that caters for about 2000 victims of insurgency.

The project entails the provision of temporary learning spaces (tents), water sanitation and hygiene facilities, educational materials (teachers & students desks and chairs, text and exercise books, writing materials, school uniforms and school bags) and laboratory equipment.

Under this intervention, Orphaned and Vulnerable Children will be placed on the VSF Foster Care programme. Provision has also been made for allowances for teaching and non-teaching volunteer staff of EMCI. These volunteers have been biometrically captured and will assist in the successful implementation of the project.

VSF in executing its mandate continues to strive to bring succour to victims of insurgency in the Northeast.
