Victims Support Fund Reconstructs Public Buildings in Gwoza, Mobbar and Ngala Local Government Areas in Borno State

Victims Support Fund (VSF) on Thursday 3rd May 2018 flagged-off the reconstruction of public structures in three (3) Local Government Areas in Borno State.  The project is fully funded by VSF and will be executed by the Borno State Government through the Borno State Ministry of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement.

According to the Executive Director VSF Prof. Sunday Ochoche, the project budget of N1.6 billion would cover building materials and labour costs for the construction of schools, hospitals, hostels, staff quarters and the local government secretariats of Gwoza, Mobbar and Ngala Local Government Areas respectively. Prof. Ochoche recalled that VSF had on previous occasions worked with the Borno State Government and was positive that the structures would be reconstructed to the highest standards.

The Chairman of VSF Gen. T Y Danjuma (Rtd) represented by the Vice Chairman VSF Mr. Tijjani Tumsah, reiterated the commitment of VSF to supporting victims in the recovery from the devastations of the Boko Haram insurgency. He expressed optimism that this reconstruction project in three LGAs will help to further restore governance institutions while restoring life to normalcy for the people. He further pointed out that by the completion of this project, VSF would have carried out reconstruction in nine (9) LGAs in Borno State. The LGAs are: Dikwa, Bama, Chibok, Damboa, Askira Uba, Hawul, Gwoza, Mobbar and Ngala.

The State Government lauded the project and promised to ensure that the funds would be utilised judiciously to provide befitting public infrastructure for ravaged communities.
