National Park Service Hosts Group On Key Biodiversity Areas

A 10-National Coordination Group for Key BiodiversityAreaas (NCG) in Nigeria was hosted by the National Park Service. The Group was constituted to produce Terms of preference for the identification, documentation and delineation of key biodiversity areas in Nigeria.
This was disclosed in a Press Release issued by the Media Assistant to the Conservatior-General (CG), National Park Service, Yakubu Zull.
Zull added that the CG, Ibrahim Musa Goni while making remarks at the occasion urged the members of the Group to liaise with relevant Federal Government Agencies, international organizations and individual to implement the global Key Biodiversity Area Programmes in Nigeria in line with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). He said that the partnership of the Group with other strategic partners will help in promoting conservation efforts by mapping and lobbying for the development of important sites in Nigeria. He assured the Group of the continuous support of the National Park service in helping it realizes its objectives in Nigeria.
The membership of the Group was drawn from some conservation organizations in Nigeria such as Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF), Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), Wildlife Society of Nigeria (WISON), National Park Service (PKS), Federal Department of Forestry (FDF) and the academia.
