FG BOOSTS CAPACITY OF TRADEMARK EXAMINERS

In an effort to boost the moral and capacity of the staff of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, the Trademark Registry in collaboration with International Trademark Association (INTA) has organized a two day training program for its examiners in Abuja.

The training which was the second in series was part of INTA’s capacity building programme for the examiners to possess the required skills to assist them in making decisions on the registrability of a proposed trademark.

In his welcome address, the Registrar, Trademark, Barr. Shafiu Adamu Yauri who represented the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Richard Adeniyi Adebayo at the event disclosed that Examiners should take advantage of the training programme to benefit from the wealth of experience of the International Resource persons.

In his Remarks, the Representative of Africa and Middle East, International Trademark Association (INTA), Mr Tatiene Lowanbe stated that their International organization is assiduously working in various Countries including Nigeria which is a key partner on International Trademark activities.s

Lowanbe explained that the training capacity building and legislative support for examiners across member counties is very important because it shows how collaboration with trademark office is growing.
