EVELYN URGES FMITI STAFF TO DISCHARGE DUTIES WITH ALL SENSE OF RESPONSIBILITY

The Permanent Secretary of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Evelyn Ngigehas urged the Staff of the Ministry to be responsible and committed in the discharge of their duties to move the service forward.

Dr. Ngige disclosed this while delivering  a keynote address  at the occasion of the  Recognition and Reward Ceremony for the  Outstanding Civil Servant in the Ministry as part of activities to Mark the Year 2022, Nigerian Civil Service Week recently in Abuja.

The Permanent Secretary appreciated the visionary and purposeful leadership role of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOCSF), DrFolashadeYemi-Esan for giving the directive to hold the ceremony in all MDA’s and service wide levels.

DrNgige dwelled on the core values of Service that has been predicated on stewardship, trust,engagement and professionalism, these values if properly harnessed becomes guidelines and agents of change in Public Service.

“As Civil Servants, regardless of their positions and responsibilities assigned most be carried out with honesty and sincerity of purpose to actualize the goals, aims and mandate of the Ministry and Federal Government at large”.Dr. Ngige stressed.

Sheassured that the top management is working assiduously to improve staff proficiency and capacity for proper service delivery through training and re- training of officers, stressing that “the Ministry also liaised with the office of the Head of Service  of the Federation (HOS) to ensure that officers of the Ministry participate and benefit from the training programs organized by the Head of Service especially the Leadership Enhancement Development Program (LEAD-P) and the Structured Mandatory Assessment-Based Program (SMART-P) as these goes a long way to enhance skills, develop and strengthened capacity of Civil Servants.” she added.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Director, Human Resources Management (HRM) Department, Mr. YisauAderemiAdepoju, urged the awardees to understand that in a space of time in their career, they might be potential Permanent Secretaries, Chief Executive of Parastatals and Head of Extra- Ministerial Agencies.

Mr. Adepoju explained that the past, present and the future outstanding Officers across the Service would one day becomes very useful in exchange of programmes, attachment and placement in their respective organizations, International Agencies and Private firms where they would apply their expertise and gain more experience.

The three recipients of the Awards at the ceremony,includes the Assistant Director Discipline, Miss Mary Jane EsoheIdemudia for Directorate Cadre, Mr. Jude for Middle Management Cadre as well asMrs. Margret John for Junior Cadre Award.

It would be recalled that every Year NigeriaMark Civil Service Week with series of activities organized by the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation.
