COVID-19 – Nestlé presents food and beverages worth N50 million to the Presidential Task Force

Nestlé Nigeria has donated food and beverages worth N50 million (Fifty million naira) to the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 (PTF). This presentation in Abuja is part of the company’s contribution of over N700 million, comprising product and cash donations, towards the national response efforts led by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.

Established by President Mohammed Buhari in March 2020, the PTF is responsible for coordinating and overseeing Nigeria’s multi-sectoral, inter-governmental efforts to contain the spread and mitigate the impact of the
COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria. The food and beverages donated by Nestlé will support personnel and volunteers on the frontlines of the fight against COVID-19.

Present to receive the donation on behalf of the Federal Government, was Dr. Sani Aliyu, National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force. He commended Nestlé Nigeria for supporting the Federal Government’s efforts, noting that the company had already provided support on COVID-19 response to several states and communities around the country, and also through the Private Sector Alliance Against COVID-19, CACOVID.

It will be recalled that while announcing Nestlé’s contribution of N700 million to the fight against COVID-19, the MD/CEO of Nestlé Nigeria, Mr. Mauricio Alarcon said that in line with the company’s purpose of enhancing quality of life and contributing to a healthier future, Nestlé will continue to play its essential role of ensuring the uninterrupted availability of food and beverage products which are critical for the sustenance and well-being of millions of Nigerian families who rely on the company to help feed their families every day.
