Commonwealth Games Support Group Begins Mobilisation of Nigerians

“Exporting Corporate Nigeria Project’’, the support group for Nigeria’s success at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia has began mobilisation of Nigerians

Addressing members of the Group today in Abuja, the Project’s chairman, Otunba Adedeji Adeleye, stressed the need for sensitisation and mobilisation of Nigerians for full support of the Nigerian contingent who are currently training in PortHarcoourt, Lagos and Abuja.

“We all know that games like this has remained a veritable global channel to showcase Nigeria and create positive image for the country,’’ Adeleye said, adding that showcasing the economic and investment potentials of Nigeria at the games could attract investors from Australia and the rest of the world.

He emphasised “the need for the private sector and well-meaning Nigerians to assist our contingent to achieve a superb outing in Gold Coast, Australian venue of the games,’’ adding, “government alone is never left alone to shoulder the responsibility of games like this anywhere in the world’’.

“it is not enough for Nigerians to sit down in the comfort of their homes and expect these young lads in various camps to do them proud while the preparation for the Games is very poor and the morale of athletes are not boosted”, Adeleye remarked.

“We are determined to ensure that our preparations compare favourably with other nations to ensure that our contingent hit the game in high spirit and compete successfully with their counterparts from other countries.

He noted that AIT report of Monday, 29 January was discouraging as it showed a very low stage of preparation for a successful outing for Nigeria, adding that the group was already exploring Public Private Partnership (PPP) to assist Nigeria’s preparation and eventual success at the games.

“Exposure Multimedia Consult and Rainbow Tourism Development Co Ltd have commenced Promotional Campaign Project in Partnership with selected leading National Media Houses in and outside Nigeria to garner support for the Nigerian Contingent for a highly successful participation at this year’s commonwealth Games,,’’ Adeleye announced..

“This project will complement Government efforts towards the preparation for the Games as well the welfare of the Athletes in Australia,

“All Nigerians, Corporate organisations and individuals, will have the opportunity to contribute to the over-all success of the Nigerian contingent at the Games through well articulated camping provisions in the areas of medical, Feeding, Boarding, Welfare and psychology,’’ Adeleye said.

The 2018 Commonwealth games holds in Gold Coast City, Australia from 4th – 15th April.
