 CAC BOSS CHARGES LAW STUDENTS TO BE LAW ABIDING

 The Registrar-General, Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Alhaji Bello Mahmud has charged the Law Students of University of Abuja to take their studies seriously as leaders of tomorrow.

He gave the charge recently at the 26th Annual Law Dinner of Law Students Association of Nigeria (LAWSAN) University of Abuja Chapter, held at Everlyn Garden Event Centre, Gwarinpa, Abuja.

The Registrar-General who was represented at the event by the Deputy Director Public Affairs, Mr. Moses Adaguusu urged the students to shun all social vices. He charged the students to cultivate high moral standards as their conduct as law students counts towards their admission into the legal profession. He stressed that the “fit and proper persons” criteria for call to Bar still remains the fundamental test.

He noted that the theme of the event ‘Law, Politics and the Challenges of Nationhood in the 21st Century Nigeria’, was apt and expressed optimism that the guest speakers and other participants would proffer solutions to the economic challenges facing the country.

The Registrar-General reiterated that the Commission attached great importance to the training of lawyers and had over the years been organizing special lectures for Student of the Nigerian Law School at various campuses nationwide.

He pointed that the CAC had continuously reviewed its processes and procedures in line with international best practices geared towards improving the investment climate in the country.

He further disclosed that the cost of business registration and post in corporation services had been reduced to encourage informal business sectorto migrate to the formal sector by registering their businesses.

The President of LAW SAN University of Abuja Chapter, Mr. Tochukwu Maduon behalf of the Association thanked the Registrar-General for the kind gesture even as he acknowledged the kind audience Management o f the CAC had granted the Association during its courtesy visit to the Commission.

He stated that their choice of the Registrar-General as the Chairman of its 26th Edition of Annual Law Dinner was informed by his remarkable  contributions to the development of legal profession as well as his laudable achievements at the CAC through his reform initiatives which has led to efficient service delivery and ease of doing business in line with the Federal Government’s agenda.
